Wed. 07 Aug. | Imsak - 4:59 | Fajr - 5:05 | Sunrise - 6:25 | Dhuhr - 12:00 | Asr - 3:00 | Maghrib - 5:23 | Isha - 6:42 | RAMADHAN 2012 IMSAK-IFTAR TIMETABLE |
The Prophet s.a.w said, "Whoever observes fasts during the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping to attain Allah's rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven." ( Sahih Bukhari )
Please note that fasting actually starts at commencement of Fajr & ends at start of Maghrib. Imsak is the preferred time to stop eating based on a report from a Companion of the Prophet ( peace and blessings be upon him ): When asked what was the gap between the time they finished eating sahur with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and they prayed fajr, he said: “The gap between the two was sufficient enough for a person to read fifty verses of the Qur’an.” It is, however, wrong to conclude from this that we are not allowed to eat until arrival of fajr since Allah clearly states in the Qur’an, “Eat and drink until the white thread of dawn is distinct from the black thread ( i.e., until the arrival of true dawn ).”Iftar - break fast at maghrib prayer times. For Imsak: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “If one of you hears the call to prayer (Adhan) and the vessel is in the hand of one of you, then let him not put it down until he fulfils his need from it.” (Abu Dawood - Ch.784 / 2343)And for Maghrib: The Prophet (peace be upon him) also said, “My Ummah will continue to be upon good for as long as they hasten to pray the Maghrib Prayer.” (Abu Dawood - Ch.155/418, and Ibn Majah)
We ask Allah (S.W.T.) to make Ramadan a blessed month for us all, where we are in good health and Iman. We ask Him to guide us during this time of self-discipline and to help us take advantage of Ramadan's great blessings. Ameen.

I, therefore, intend to observe fast tomorrow to fulfill the obligatory Ramadhan fast this year in obedience to Allah swtللَّهُمَّ اِنِّى لَكَ صُمْتُ وَبِكَ امنْتُ وَ عَلى رِزْقِكَ اَفْطَرْتُ
Allahumma inni laka sumtu wa bika aamantu wa 'ala rizq-ika aftarthu
O Allah! I fasted for You and I believe in You and I break my fast with Your sustenanceذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ وَ ابْتَلَّتِ الْعُرُوقُ، وَ ثَبَتَ الأجْرُ إنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُdhahabadh-dhama'u wab-tallatil 'urooqu, wa thabatal ajru inshaAllah
The most significant aspect of fasting is the development of Allah-consciousness ( Taqwa ) in the heart and the soul of a fasting Muslim. One must abstain from immoral behavior and attitude as well. Refraining from food and such is essential during fast but it is not sufficient. The Prophet s.a.w said: 'If one does not abandon falsehood in words and deeds, Allah has no need for his abandoning of his food and drink.' (Al-Bukhari)
When you are fasting, and someone is rude to you - say:
نَّيْ صَائِمٌ ، اِنِّيْ صَائمٌ
Inni sa'iimu, inni sa'iimu
I am fasting, I am fasting
