Subject: Zean Johnson Video on Gold Coast Islam Website
Asalamu AlaikumJust out of curiosity why was Zean Johnson who came from Yemen and gave a lecture in the masjid which was recorded by Ismail Mehmet which I attend removed from the website?
One of my friends was asking me and I thought I ask you guys first before giving him an answer. If you can let me know would be appreciated.
I did not actually looked at the video on the website purely for the fact that I attended the event. The only reason I said that it was removed because the video was there and then next few days gone when tried to watch the video.
I would love to ask the Imam about it but when I approached him yesterday to Salam the first thing he said I was a trouble maker. I thought he was joking not realising he was serious. He told me in public I should worry about my Akhira and have fear of Allah. I don't know why he said that but I tried to call him to ask him and he hung up the phone on me.
I will try to deal with him myself and if not I'll then put in an official complaint with the Committee with his attitude and without explanation of why he called me a trouble maker. On my side of the response to him was I like to keep people awake and when he said to me to worry about the Akhira I said to him that he should worry about his Akhira too. I also sent him as sms briefly saying to him I was disappointed with him because he has not sat down with me to find out why he thinks I am a trouble maker. No reply as yet.
It would be nice to know but then again he is gone to Hajj and may Allah forgive him for his short coming. The only reason I am letting you know this issues because it happened two days ago on Friday after Jumma salat and after lunch. I don't want to make it official at this stage because I think I should solve it with him. This is an off the record email so if I can't find resolution with him I'll then have to do it officially.
One thing you should understand about how I work. Most people love to replace the Imam and Committee. I believe that if the Imam and Committee being human like me have short comings or lack of knowledge in certain area should be reminded and advised. So who am I to give suggestion or opinion? Just a person who is the community who spends a lot of time learning about Islam from scholars and Imams who are more knowledgeable than our Imam and who has travelled enough to give an opinion and not a fatwa. Even if it was a Fatwa we don't have to accept it unless it's Khalifah situation which we don't have.
So I am not your enemy and yes I do get approached but I tell them the same thing as you all I only serve Allah and not afraid of anyone cause everything comes to Allah and I have to answer back to him. So if this brother has an opinion which is allowed in Islam or a suggestion you guys have a right to accept it or not or even find out. And I will be giving future opinion or suggestions and if I have to reference to our Quran and Sunnah and the sahabas I will do it. You can either verify what I said with the Imam or you can ask multiple Imams which is what I do.
